Kids are never that easy. If you take the time to prepare her for a new babies arrival the transition will go more smoothly. My son was 16 months old whe I got pregnant the second time, We did our best to explain about the baby coming, but I don't think that in any of those discussions we mentioned that he would get less attention. Once both boys were out of the baby stage it got easier, The most important thing is to make sure she knows that even if everyone is busy with a new baby she is still loved and when the time comes make sure theres special time just for your big girl so she gets the attention she needs too.

Of course she loves those babies, because they are not "stealing" all of your attention away from her. There's always the chance she loves her new baby sibling and there's a chance she'll be jealous. You just have to wait and see. My 3 year old loved her little brother until about 3 months ago (he's now 11 months). You can't really predict anything!

According to Dr. Christiane Northup in her book "Mother-Daughter Wisdom", developing girls aged 2-3 years old experience a surge in estrogen as great as during puberty (this helps their internal sexual organs to develop). The outcome of this abundance of estrogen is that girls 2-3 get very maternal and love dolls and babies. However after the age of 3 until about 12 they enter a latency period where their interest sort of wanes.

In terms of sibling rivalry, sibling rivalry usually occurs in siblings with 3 years or less age difference. Also, sibling rivalry is greater if the siblings are the same sex.

I am the mother of 3 and sorry to say, there is going to be some rivalry.

No, your attention is focused on her right now, when the focus changes so will her attitude!
