Depends on the terms of his/her visa. An illegal is NEVER, under ANY circumstances permitted to LEGALLY work in this country.

Sounds as if your boss' visa is expiring.

This sorry excuse of a government doesn't care where you come from or what color your skin is. They will work you into
the ground. Then when you ask for retirement benefits they'll
do everything they can to make you disappear!

It depends on the visa type. H1B, for example, can only be granted for six years total (three years, and then renewed for another three.)

What does the VISA say? If the VISA has ended, you can't legally work anymore and must leave.

ILLEGAL ALIEN CRIMINALS are never allowed to work in the US. Note the word ILLEGAL?
