Libby (Elizabeth) Dole for her work as Red Cross president & then as a Senator. She has served 5 different presidents including as Secretary of Transportation & Secretary of Labor, Consumer Affairs, & over the US Coast Guard for a while. She has won numerous awards for her humanitarian efforts & has been a kind & generous person who is loved by most who know her in our great state. She has been gracious everytime I have spoken to her. A true lady & a hard worker.
She has supported & helped her husband, Bob Dole, after his war injury & when he chose to run for President.
I went with the non obvious instead of Rosa Parks or Ghandi or even Oprah.

I now live in the Bahamas...and there is a woman who has very little money, and not much more than a shack to live in. But anyone - man, woman or child - who needs help for anything, knows they can count on her. She has raised over 20 children for other people who cannot afford to take care of their own children...even when it means she has to make great sacrifices herself. She never asks for anything from anyone, but is always there for others. A great woman, to be sure.

I cannot think of one at the moment; but let me ask, are you writing a paper for school? Would the woman have to be living?

One that comes to mind is Oprah. Did you see the special on ABC a week or two back? She went to her home in South Africa and created a school for girls with high potential. These gals wouldn't have had a chance otherwise.
