oh dear God yes. I try to avoid them at all costs. They are very needy and clingy and want all the help in the world yet never do they take any action to improve their situation. Little violins playing everywhere. Not that they don't need help but that they need to help themselves first instead of leeching off other's energy. They tend to be very tunnel visioned with little thought of how they are treating or affecting others. I only deal with them if I have to through work but not in my personal life.

Yes. Do you mean people who are always going through "problems" like depression and they "need you to be there as a friend," and you feel like you want to help them... but then you realise their problems never end and that your "friendship" has become nothing but helping them with their issues? And then you have to cut them off and you feel bad because they do really need a friend and you know you'll just make their problems worse, but you also know you're being sucked into their black hole and you have to stop talking to them to get on with your own life... Argh.

Yahoo Answers is full of them.... men/women who invest great deals of energy, time and emotion in slandering, insulting, name calling, cursing at, degrading, making racists. homophobic, and sexist comments towards, etc., other members. I experience them daily as I read thru the questions and answers.

What do you suppose drives this type of behavior?
