One reason is that London Underground does not have a Timetable! A start and Last train guideline but no set times.
I would go to your nearest Mainline station and enquire face to face with the Ticet Clerk who will help you get a good price, time and explain all the options you have.
DO NOT try to do this via the web. Always go to the Station and seek assistance. It may take you and the clerk 10 to 15 mins to get it sorted, but its cheaper, the tickets are ready there and then, print offs are clearer and you will get seat reservations, assistance if required and hopefully a happy clerk who will be pleased to help you as it is a challenge to them as well!
Go with an idea of Time you need to be there, what date and the same for the return, which routes you want to go and how many people. Be prepared to be a little flexible to get best seat prices.
Most of all be patient with the clerk, they will get the best they can and do not go during peak time and ask!

No such station as Aberdwylan! And www.streetmap.co.uk doesn't recognise it as a UK place name.....
Get the name right then try again. If there is no station at wherever it really is you are trying to get to, then the journey planner on www.traveline.org.uk will tell you if it is possible to get there by any form of public transport.

try www.118118.com They do train times there. If you ring them they can give you the times over the phone and get your seats booked too.
Not surprisingly, their number (from uk only) is 118118
