What do you think about the controversy between the Christians and the Atheists on Yahoo! ANSWERS?

This has been going on for so long. It isn't like it's just happening. And it is happening outside of Yahoo Answers and in the real world. This has been going on for at least a couple of thousand years. I don't think it's gonna stop either. It would take some sort of miracle as some might like to say for all of it to change. As long as people have differences of opinions then there's always gonna be fighting and arguing and debating between all of the parties involved.

There should be no controversy. People have their beliefs and they stand by them and they live and vote in a way which is consistent with those beliefs. The problems lies when one side feels the need to belittle the other (the bumper sticker with the fish with feet on it and darwin written on it). There is no need for this. Let others believe what they wish. They have the right to try to convince any of us as to the rightness of what they believe....up to a point. We all have the right to live, organize , vote and lobby to influence our govt. and culture. Some would like to take that right away from specific groups. That is wrong. So live and let live and don't tread on me.

Sometimes I hate it. But I must enjoy it too in some weird masochistic way, cause I keep coming back. The atheists know how to irritate the Christians, and the Christians get in a few good shots too. I have learned the quickest way to REALLY tick off the atheists is to speak of atheism in religious terms. That brings on a rain of thumbs-down every time! This is unworthy of a Christian, I know, to bait the less fortunate. I hope to outgrow it soon.

If Christians think that Atheists should post in the Science category...then does that mean that Christians should be posting in the Mythology category?

I don't see it as a controversy; it's more like an exchange of opinions, facts, information and (on Christians' side) only of dogmatic statements too;)..As an Atheist, I believe that communication is always positive.

Actually, this is true. I stop in from time to time and find that there is some turnover in the Christian posters, but the Atheists stick to it like glue. So what is it that makes them post so obsessively - zeal or insecurity?

I think we're all missing the point of the R/S section. It's not to argue and debate these things to separate us, it should be used to concentrate on the things that link us together. Like the fact that we all need oxygen. Other than that, we probably can't agree on anything else. So I move that we change the name of the R/S section to the "We All Need Oxygen" Section. Who's with me?
