As I am a man, from the viewpoint of an ordinary man, I only would have thought that one thing is for sure. That is he somehow has a positive feelings towards you. Otherwise, he wouldn't have got in touch with you in the first place.
However, please beware that ; " Out of sight,out of mind."
Considering the fact that you and the man are a bit too away each other, it may be not so easy to keep the relationship if it ever resumes again.
At this stage, it is not certain yet whether he is definitely on you or just counting you as one of the options.

His feelings could have been just plain curiosity Ie. how you look now, how is she doing now. IF not than he probably still has some interest in you. You need to go find out if you fancy him the same way.

the feelings hes probably having is that he likes you in the way u liked him years ago i think the question you need to be askin is do u have feelings for this guy anymore and if yes i think you should try and find out weather he definetly has feeling for u
