Ignorance isn't bliss it is stupidity, what is considered living in poverty is an income level. I am a single mother of 3 I am highly educated, I did not have my children out of wedlock, and living in poverty is not a choice I made.
I feed, cloth, house, and educate my children, my oldest is a straight A student, member of the student council, participates in sports and is excelling, my middle child is an average student belongs to the Boy Scouts and volunteers in the community, my youngest is a straight A student who loves to dance and sing.
Does that sound like a family in poverty? No. My husband, their father, passed away after a long battle with cancer taking my family's income from about 4500.00 a month to 1500 a month.
It is unfair to label people who live in poverty as uneducated, lazy people in fact I bet the number of people in poverty are the hard working ones who serve your coffee to you in the morning teach your children, ring you up at the grocery store etc.

Every single case is not an uneducated, single woman with too many children. According to a 2004 study........................
-for children under age 6 living in families with a female householder and no husband present: 54.8 percent
-for children under age 6 in married-couple families: 10.1 percent
Poverty rate for African Americans: 26.1 percent
Poverty rate for Asians and Pacific Islanders: 12.5 percent
Poverty rate for Hispanics of any race: 25.6 percent
Poverty rate for non-Hispanic whites: 8.2 percent
I am female but not uneducated. If my husband left I would be in poverty or close to it immediately. I have two children by the same man that I have been married to for almost 20 years.

Every single case stems from an under educated female having too many kids too early in life with a man she hardly knows and usually isn't even married to. (sorry about the dangling participle)
