Our first dance was to "Our Love is Here to Stay" by Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong (there are lots of different versions out there but we liked their duet the best). We wanted something classic and timeless, something short (it's about 4 minutes, but we've been to weddings where the first dance was like 10 minutes long!) and something more original (i.e. NOT Unforgettable, At Last, etc). Its really a cute song, if you listen to the lyrics (below). Have fun! :)
========================================
It's very clear, our love is here to stay
Not for a year but forever and a day
The radio and the telephone and the movies that we know
May just be passing fancies and in time may go
But oh, my dear, our love is here to stay
Together we're going a long, long way
In time the Rockies may crumble, Gibraltar may tumble
They're only made of clay
But our love is here to stay

I will be here by Steven Curtis Chapman
Tomorrow morning if you wake up
and the sun does not appear
I will be here
If in the dark, we lose sight of love
Hold my hand, and have no fear
'Cause I will be here
I will be here
When you feel like being quiet
When you need to speak your mind
I will listen
And I will be here
When the laughter turns to cryin'
Through the winning, losing and trying
We'll be together
I will be here
Tomorrow morning, if you wake up
And the future is unclear
I will be here
Just as sure as seasons were made for change
Our lifetimes were made for these years
So I will be here
I will be here
And you can cry on my shoulder
When the mirror tells us we're older
I will hold you
And I will be here
To watch you grow in beauty
And tell you all the things you are to me
I will be here
I will be true to the promise I have made
To you and to the One who gave you to me
Tomorrow morning, if you wake up
And the sun does not appear
I will be here
Oh, I will be here.

We used 'Could Not Ask For More' by Edwin McCain. More modern than some but still has very nice lyrics. Another wedding we went to used 'Hero' by Enrique Iglesias. That song fit them perfect and made a surprizingly great first dance song. :)

Little Big Town ( Bring it on Home to me)
You got someone here wants to make alright
Someone who loves you more than life right here
You got willing arms that'll hold you tight
A hand to lead you on through the night right here
I know your heart can get all tangled up inside
But don't you keep it to yourself
[Chorus:]
When your long day is over
And you can barley drag your feet
The weight of the world is on your shoulders
I know what you need
Bring it on home to me
You know i know you like the back of my hand
But did you know I'm gonna do all that I can right here
I'm gonna lie with you till you fall asleep
When the morning comes I'm still gonna be right here (yes I am)
So take your worries and just drop them at the door
Baby leave it all behind
[Chorus]
Baby let me be you safe harbor
Don't let the water come and carry you away
[Chorus]
You got someone here wants to make it alright
Someone who loves you more than life right here
