Go through where? The post gate? Do you still have MPs dense enough they don't know about these lights, which have been mandated in Canada since 1990? While not mandated in the US, they have been legal since 1995. Daytime running lights are a requirement in Canada to have your car on the road period. There is no switch, they go on with the ignition. The newer cars they don't go on until you put your car in gear., but they are a safety feature. You can lightly engage the park brake to turn them off, they will go off as soon as the brake light on the dash comes on, but, obviously you aren't going to drive with no lights and the park brake on as well. that should be enough to get you through the gate, and is a better solution than screwing around with the wiring of the car.

RE:
Can you turn off Daytime Running Lights?
Can anyone tell me how to turn off the daytime running light on a 01 mustang?? I am in the military and everytime I go through they ask me to turn my lights off next time. I am tired off hearing it, and i just don't like them on!

I know exactly where your comming from. Night after 911 I drove onto Otis AFB in my GMC Sonoma. It has DRL's and Automatic headlights. (The lights are ON even when the switch is OFF when its dark out !!!)..
Designers of the car never though anyone would ever try to shut off their lights at night....Except they never had to approach a guard shack and have M-16's pointed at them....
Otis eventually got some portable light generators facing on comming traffic which ended the problem of car approaching with lights on. I am surprised that you have this issue as I though all bases were doing this.
Unless there is an override built in to the car (putting car in neutral or activating emergency brake)
Only way around it would be to wire a kill switch to the lights. You can install a high current 12VDC relay (One per light) in series with the Low beams. Activating an aux switch will open the circuit to the low beams. I recommend two realys and killing lows only so as to be somewhat fail safe. Incase a relay burns or shorts out you will only loose one low beam and incase of a switch short yo will still have High beams and parking lights...

I would figure theres a seperate fuse for that function. I have DRL as well although I haven't had a problem with them.
Side note: to turn off, just put the car in park or set the emergence brake. That is what causes mine to go on, I let go of the emergency brake, the DRL turns on.

I'm not sure, but there may be some type of control to turn them off similar to turning off the seat belt warning buzzer. I'll try and research it and get back to you. Did you look in the owner's manual??
