why use an avatar mocking 'challenged' or 'retarded' people? mock my God if you like, but why the defenseless? Am I the only one turned off by this?

No better way to show yourself as a coward than to mock the downtrodden.

I agree that if you throw your hat in the ring, don't be too thin skinned - challenge any topic in R&S in my opinion, I just don't find anything justification mocking folks who need shelter.

Call me what you like, no big deal, but leave the defenseless out of the attack.

I'm not trying to make a generalization about any group here in R&S - I'm not saying any belief system is prone to do this more than another - I'm just trying to influence the folks doing this stuff to change their approach - no offense to any belief system intended at all

There is a huge difference between being ignorant and being mentally challenged. Mocking the "challenged" is unacceptable but for those who put their dunce caps in the ring, they are fair game.

You are not the only one. Not by far. You are absolutely right. The teasing and mocking has indeed gone to far
I doubt it's appropriate n R&S, or anywhere for that matter
They have taken a place where we can share answers and pose questions and just gone mad. I feel like we are on a playground at a grammer school
Still, there are some whose questions and answers I appreciate

No, I am too Bob...and by the questions that just go way past the limit of good taste.

What it makes me feel is that these people who act, respond and present themselves in this way want only to hurt and abuse others and they have no legitimate points to make for their side. It reflects badly on those who are serious and honest about their lack of beliefs. In other words, they tell us they are really intelligent and base their beliefs on fact...but their words belie this and instead make atheists look like fools.

I'm just going to through this out here. I'm athiest, but i don't like hurting peoples feelings or making fun of people who are defenless...it really annoys me, and it is wrong. So please don't generalinze so much Bob. Just because we don't believe in God doesn't mean we're all bad people that like making fun of others.

And I am most certianly not a fool.

BOB!!!! Sorry..i didnt mean to accuse you of that. my mistake. I accidently typed your name and didn't catch it because my computer was being stupid and I had to leave...I ment the Dust guy that seems to think atheist are just stuck up fools. Sorry for the typo and misunderstanding!!

No you're absolutely right dude. To pick on and make fun of people who can't defend themselves is just downright pathetic and cowardice.

My avatar is cute! Anyway, I think its rather ridiculous to go that far. I'm fine with just expressing my opinions.

Mocking anyone for something against their power to change it is wrong whether they are disabled or not.

You're most likely talking about the children on here. Children have always been rude and nasty. They're quite good at it....
