you have to get certified on it. it's not the same as a gun permit. it doesn't take very long either. it depends on your state on how many hours they make you sit through the boring class. but like the other guy said...might as well go for a gun permit

Yes, It is required to have a license to carry to walk around with ANY type of concealed weapon. However if you jump through all of the hoops to get a carry permint, you might as well forget the baton and just carry a gun.

some states you dont need a license to carry it but im not suer about massachusetts
