Oh boy, I've done this many times. Start a room to room search, closing the door while you are looking in there. Check behind, under, and in everything. Close the door when you have checked everything.
Chances are, you will have to spook the finch to figure out where it is. Keep looking! Don't give up!

If a window or door was open your finch is outside now and theres nothing you can do unless it is highly tamed and you can find it outside.
Shut all the windows and doors if any are open. Place out bird food ect... and check each room. Be quiet so you can hear any movements or sounds it makes.

first make sure all window and doors are closed. then cheack the bathrooms to see if there in there it could fall in the toliet and drown it happento my bird only i saved it in time close the bathroom door to make sure its not in there cheak allthe rooms in the house and close them if u can find it so it can get in.birds like to be up high so seach around keep trying u'll find it

well if you can't find him try his favorite treat (if he has one) or just wait. He'll probably come into the open when he's hungry. Also cover any mirrors and the shades on the windows so if he gets scared he doesn't fly into them and hurt himself good luck

keep everything closed up, turn everything off, and listen for noises. this happened to my friend and her bird ended up in the kitchen.
