Well I think that it would take a lot of time.Specially if you learned here, where you aren't going to use it that often.
I will recomend you to go to a Spanish speaking country, there you would learn it more fast then here.
In San Juan,Puerto Rico will be good to move because there people speak Spanish and a little English cause a lot of tourist go there..

I took Spanish classes from 8th grade up through college (ended up being my major). I don't think I felt comfortable to say I was close to fluent until I finished my junior year of college, so that was 8 years. Then I studied in Mexico my first semester of my senior year and felt like I knew nothing. That's where I REALLY learned.

All I ever managed to do was fill my brain with a lot of broken memories that were hard to access and useless when it came time to use them. And even submerged in the language with no study my language ability rose to that of a ten year old street kid that never went to school.
So I entered the adult education system and started all over and in the first year overcame all that and in the second year could write, speak and read and converse well.

The spanish language is so much more complex than our own. Many languages are, actually. I have been learning for 4 years, and still have sooooooooooooo far to go.
