I found the variety and prices of guns on the internet are more attractive than any gun-shops... But how would I go about purchasing one? can i get it shipped without a FFL?

An FFL will basically allow you to legally sell firearms as a career or as extra money on the side. When buying firearms online or any indirect source the weapon must be shipped to an FFL holder, being yourself or another dealer. If you buy a firearm online without an FFL, contact a local dealer (gunshops will be the best and easiest way) and see if they take orders from online sites, and find out their fee for doing so (typically under $50). Then buy the firearm from the site* giving the gunshop's or private dealer's address for shipping. The FFL holder will send a copy of their FFL and the online owner will ship the weapon to the dealer and you then go pick it up and pay the dealer their fee.

* Some websites or the FFL holders may require that the dealer pays for it, and you pay the dealer for the cost of the gun when picking it up.

go to your local gun shop and ask if they will do a FFL transfer and how much it will cost. They will either give you a copy of their FFL to send the FFL dealer you purchasing from or they will send one for you. They will charge you for this service and the gun will be shiped to them.. You will pay the person you buying the gun from and do the paperwork at the local shop to pick the gun up. My shop charges 30 dollars to do a transfer.

Unless you are a gun dealer, then you don't need to go through the hassle for getting an FFL. Find a gun that you want and then pay a local gun dealer the FFL transfer fee to order it for you. Most sites such as www.gunbroker.com provide a list of people in your area and their transfer fee cost.

No. Every firearm must be shipped to a FFL licensed dealer. They usually charge a modest fee for firearms shipped to them (probably around $35), but most won't mind doing it. Simply call your local gun dealers and ask them what their fee is to have firearms shipped to them. It will be a lot cheaper and easier than obtaining your FFL, but if you DID obtain your FFL, there is definately income possibilities with having one.

Most of the answers you've recieved are good ones. I'd suggest going to Gunbroker.com and checking out the site there. There's plenty of info about purchasing, lists of FFL Dealers in your area who will accept shipments and lots of guns to look through. It's similar to eBay. Good Luck!
