I can't seem to get my heart to listen to my head.I know my ex is not good for me. But after being together for 14 years, my heart still loves him. My head knows it's over, I just wish my heart would catch up with it. Any ideas on how to do this, so that I can fully move on from him?

14 years!!! u didn't mention how long has it been since the break up!! I know what u mean when u say your brain and your heart don't connect. It happens, i mean not only in these kind of situations but in alot of other stuff too. Your brain and heart go on a debate!!! maybe u haven't been away from him long enough!! 14 years is a loonngg time, but what u can do is when ever u think of the good time spent with him, think of the reasons u broke up with him. Make it a prestige issue, bring up your ego!! Tell yourself u r the best!! keep yourself busy... stay with friends, single girl friends would be great!!! Do stuff that u really want to do, enjoy life and every time u think of him tell yourself u r having a great time without him, even if u r not!!! U can believe whatever u want to!!! Go on a vacation, Go to Disneyland!!!:-) Join some website like orkut or something. Try to meet new people, talk to someone from the opposite sex. try a dating site and see if u can meet someone cool, and just DO NOT COMPARE any guy u meet or the time u spend with him with the time u sepnt with your EX. Just remember sometimes u click at once and sometimes u need to give it time!! Don't forget u felt like u did with your Ex cos u spent like a decade with him!!!!
Some one great is out there and the good thing is now u r free to go try your luck!!!

Let your head do the searching- for someone new. If the head finds someone, give the heart time to get used to the new guy.

Good luck, happy hunting

repeat all the bad things you went through with this person. Sometimes we only remember the good feelings not the bad ones. Read self help books Melody Beattie has great advice.
