It's only singing. No ones life depends on your pitch. Just relax. Pretend like you're basically just speaking in drawn out phrases to them. Make sure you've sang the song you've picked so much that you can sing it in your sleep and the range is sooo simple for you. Sing on the way to the audition out loud. Sing out loud with a friend if you want, that's fun too. But the one main tip that I always have to repeat to myself during an audition is...ALWAYS...always...always...

take as much time as you need before you begin. Obviously, don't wait longer than 30 seconds! Or 10 even. But all you need to do, after you introduce yourself and they tell you immediately begin..just close your eyes, breathe in and out, relax..and take at least 5 long seconds of silence to get into character and hear your inner voice, and then when you hear that inner voice, bring that to the outside as soon as your REALLY ready to begin. Taking those extra few moments to breathe and relax before beginning really helps. Then once you start, you should already feel not as nervous. You've accomplished it! The worry should be over. Make it fun. Look at all of the judges as you sing, act with your arms and body. Remember, singing is voice acting. Think about what the lyrics mean to you. Read them as if they're a poem first. When you really understand the meaning of a song, you can sing it with feeling...and when you can sing it with feeling, it's much more powerful. And you'll be on your way to being chosen by the judges for being amazingly talented and relaxed. Very best of luck!! And remember...it's only singing, relax.

As the girl below me said, pick something in your range, and will show off your voice. Remain confident, I don't know how many times I've gone to sing and been so nervous that I hit the wrong starting pitch - first impressions are everything! Don't go out of your way to impress them, it shouldn't be appearance, but vocal technique that should pique their interest, however, you should be nicely dressed. Scan the crowd when singing, if singing to just the judges then scan up and down the panel, if its just one, look at them the entire time, people like a show. Water is good for the before hand prep, but right before performing, in addition to water, suck on mints, it will hydrate your throught. Always have fun and don't fret, remember it's not about the ratings, but the experience.

Choose a song that will show off your voice, not some little poppy type song. Make sure your vocal chords are warmed up before, try to relax and do your best!

Be yourself and have fun!! Act like they are all your friends and you could do and say anything!! (that is appropriate.) Just sing your best and don't have to do ANYTHING to impress them!! Most likely their impressed with the real you!!
