Depends on the judge, and the circumstances.
For example, if you got the tickets too late to get registration, and the second ticket was on your way home, there's a very good possibility that it will be dropped.
If it was early in the day, and you drove around for a while and got the ticket a good bit later, then they may not be as likely to drop it.
But, since you got the registration fixed the next day, and after explaining that you forgot to renew it (assuming it hadn't been expired for a long time), the judge may very well drop the charges.
It's basically up to the judge to decide whether or not to drop them. But it certainly can't hurt to try. A good possibility too that they may drop the first one, but not the second one.
You'll need to show up on the court date shown on the ticket to try to get them dropped, and will have to pay the court costs for doing so.

It is up to the court, isn't it? Why, when you got one citation, why did you keep driving? A judge may issue only a reprimand for the offences, based on you quickly rectifying the situation, or he may impose maximum fines based on you being nailed twice, failing to react to and learning from the first one. Personally, I would not dismiss if I were a judge. Come on, 2 in one day?

Very doubtful that you can get them dismissed. The reason I say that is because you got two tickets for the same offense, back to back. That will be translated into, "no remorse for the law. So why should they help you."
Plus, if you would have gotten your registration on the same day, the judge would be more lenient with that. But now, they are probably going to say "late is late"

Show up to court, ask to mitigate the charge and provide your documents. The judge may be lenient since you fixed the problem quickly, or he may say, day late and dollar short. Worth a try, why not?
