What does one do when one asks What are we? Why are we here? and feel like something trapped inside a body???

IDK, I would say use certain entheogenic substances....but most are illegal. However they do give u feelings of insight. Both my parents are hippies and they say psycheldelics changed their whole perspective on the universe....they are now much more spiritual. Such as the 'self' and time are both illusions

Soul-searching is the quest for purpose. To find reasons that justify our daily activities or inactivity. Ultimately leading us down a path to self discovery or enlightenment. Life's greatest challenge is for us to discover "Who we are?' There are many paths to this end and the easiest path is accepting a solution from someone who has been there. If you can accept an answer from someone (who smokes everything except poles, so you don't have to) then here's my answer: "Love life and share this love with others." It is that simple if you choose to belief.
