as i surely don't believe in "killing babies" as you so eliquintly put it,God was only trying to free the Isrealite slaves any way he could, and when the other 9 of the 10 plagues of Egypt didn't work, God had no other choice but to follow through with his threat, and so the 10th plague was put into affect,(death of the first born) Pharaoh, being the big bad a$$ he was didn't get the hint,if I remember right his son was not spared, and so Pharaoh admitted defeat, and finally freed the Isrealite slaves,
Do I agree with how God got results? no. Did the end result please God? you betcha!!!!!
you will have to forgive any parts i didn't get quite right I'm goin on 4th grade religion class memories , in a Nun filled Catholic school

Dude, I hate when people pick out little parts in the Bible like that and say "see, look at this, your God does this or that" when really, you dont take the time to read everything the Bible has to say, you only want to pick out the parts that fit your argument and rip the Bible apart instead of taking the time to take it all in. . I'll pray for you that the Lord will change your heart!

Read the Bible. Take a Bible study on it. You have to read more of the Bible than just the killing parts, otherwise you wouldn't understand. Please don't judge a book by it's cover. You have to dig deeper than the surface.

He gave Pharoh many many opportunities to turn away from his sins and let the Isrealites go. The blame does not fall on God but on the pharoh.
