looks like someone needs some anger management... or possibly a little counseling.

Not all psychiatrists are just drug pushers, contrary to your "question".

Oh, and another thing. Many of the drugs that the psychiatrists "push" have literally changed the lives of many many people for the better. People who were otherwise depressed, suicidal, bipolar, etc.

Medication is not always inappropriate.

Well, some of us are actually educated, read scientific journals, and maybe know a thing or two about pharmacology. Pardon the spite but you don't sound the most reasonable person.

That being said, drugs alone are a bad idea except in the right circumstances. I would also like to point out that many people get psych meds from their INTERNISTS and GPs! Yes, they are MDs but frankly they are not qualified to hand this stuff out. Any Psychiatrist worth his salt will tell his patient to seek counseling too. Actually, a person should have been seeing the counselor FIRST, then they should direct that person to the psychiastrist, not the other way around.

Some are good and some are bad. Yes, a lot of them diagnose medications as a quick fix but others really want to help. I haven't been to one in years but most people that have say they don't regret it. They're professionals. If you have a foot problem, you go to the doctor. If you have a mental problem, you go to the psychiatrist.
And no, I don't think they're 'great'. I just think they know what they're doing more than a bunch of strangers on the internet, many of whom are looking for points.
There's also no shame in taking a drug if you've got a chemical problem that you can't work through.

I think I should point out that you sound like a "the only way is the natural way" groupie, and you don't realize that people can be perfectly healthy by living naturally and some need extra help because their bodies work differently or they have higher goals than others.

I for one agree with you... and thanks for directing me to that website on anti psychiatry...

although I agree with it more on a no medication level. I believe in mental health and therapy. Just not the meds...

Thanks again!
