Stage 2 breast cancer is when the tumour measures between 2 and 5cm, or the lymph glands in the armpit are affected, or both. However, there are no signs that the cancer has spread further to other parts of the body.

with this in mind it is therefore possible to treat this tumour with surgery, radiation and chemo or a combination of them. which path of treatment chosen is down to the individual and all should be explained to them so they can decide which is best for them

See my sister has breast cancer in her right breast and it has spread to 1 node of the lymph and is stage 2. She had total masectomy and even the lymph nodes have been removed and she has already undergone 4 sittings of chemo and she has another 4 to go. The logic behind the treatment is to totally remove all the cancer cells from the body and the doctors say that after the chemo, one with stage 2 cancer, can have full life without any reccurence of cancer and many (80 %) with stage 2 cancer removed are still living happily even after 20 years as per the statistics.

There are many types of treatment options for each stage of breast cancer. Some women I know have had a mastectomy required for stage I cancer. You can try calling the Susan Komen foundation for more accurate advice.

Stage 2 is to be cured.
Probably with a round of chemo.
