I was hired at a company but instructed that I could not drive the company cars nor my own car during work hours because I have had my license suspended in the past due to parking tickets (alot of them, a long time ago) My license is fine now. I have never had anything more than parking tix on my record. I want to apply for another job within the company but it would require driving. I am willing to drive my own car...for insurance purposes is there a waiver or something I can sign which would let me drive my own car on the job which would relieve them of any liablility should an accident occur?

Nope....personal auto policies specifically have a business use exclusion.

If your record is clear you should be fine...they would have to re-run your DMV.

No. Any time you are on company business there is an issue of liability This is why companies allowing or requiring employees to drive their own cars also require high liability coverage. The driver and company can be sued jointly in the event of an accident while you are driving on company time.

Just because you drive your own vehicle does not mean you have relieved them from liability. If you have an accident in the scope of your employment your employer can be held liable as you are their agent. I would think you'd want to focus on getting your license clear so you can drive either their vehicles or yours. If it's been so long why has this not dropped off?
