You will need to mail in the 2005 return as it can not be electronically filed
If you need the income information for 2005 you can call the IRS to get transcripts of the income information call 1-800-829-1040
Here are the links to the forms for 2005
1040EZ, 1040A and 1040

Actually, it really isn't too big of a deal, since you're getting money back. You can download blank 2005 IRS forms from their website (http://www.irs.gov). You'll probably need Form 1040A or 1040EZ. If you don't feel comfortable doing your own return, you can go to TurboTax and download the 2005 Individual Tax program for around $30.

I think the "e-filing" train has already left the station for 2005, but I don't think sending it in should be a big deal. What's a few more days when you're already a year late? ;)

sure, there is not any longer something to circumvent her from submitting this twelve months, in spite of despite if she filed the previous twelve months. Your mom can surely report her 2008 taxes now too. quite, I did that merely final month. No undertaking. If she finally ends up owing money, there will be effects and pastime. If she's due a reimbursement, she'll merely get it. she will acquire 2008 types from the IRS cyber web website, or purchase a application on Ebay for 2008, or hire a tax prep enterprise and do exactly the two years. in certainty, what i'm asserting is, there is not any impediment on your mom submitting her previous due taxes.

More than likely, you'll need to send the forms in by snail mail...the electronic forms from last year will probably be hard to find, but you can download them from www.irs.gov

You should just file...Have no fear that the IRS will continue applying late fees, until the point that you actually owe. If you file now, they'll take some of what they owed you for the late fees, but you'll still get back the bulk of the expected refund.

I have had back bills with the IRS for a few years now (I think I have finally figured out what I was doing wrong, thank goodness!). Every one of the IRS employees I have spoken with on the phone has been exceptionally pleasant and knowledgeable. I highly recommend calling them if you have any questions.

Well first, did you already file for an extension? If you know you are to get money back, there should be no major problem. Just do your taxes and file them. If they want to asses penalties and interest, you can ask that they be waived. Hopefully you'll have a good reason why you didn't file in the first place, because they'll ant to know.
If you end up owing, file for an extension and get them paid as soon as you can. You can still ask that penalties and interest be waived. DO NOT ignore any letters you get from the IRS. Always call and talk to someone and find a way to work it out. They are helpful believe it or not. Just don't be nasty with them and they will work with you.

Giving the government a 0% interest loan are we? =) Well, you can easily file for last year's taxes and get your money. I believe that I remember H&R Block mentioning that they could file for me for previous years if I needed that service. However, I also found a way to get your filing fees paid back to you. I filed with H&R Block this year. Later, I found a website that offered to pay me back my tax expenses. I filled out the information on their site, and got my expenses paid back to me. I got all of H&R Block's protection features, but for free! I'll put their website below in the resource box for you. Head to their site after you file to see how much they can save you on your tax expenses this year.

File in the next 2 years or you will lose your refund. I learned that from experience.

You cannot efile, you have to mail the forms in.

Go to www.irs.gov and get the past forms.

You can still file.

Unfortunately, you can not efile a previous years return. You will have to mail it in.

Either download the forms from IRS.gov or pick up the 2005 software cheap on EBay.
