I was able to burn cd's and dvd's just fine with Windows MediaPlayer until today. Now it tells me that it can;t find my DVD burner. I have no idea what happened to it or what it was called to look for it. Is there any other free ones that I can get, or can anybody help me get the one I had back?

How does it show up in your device manager? If it's there you could right-click on it and uninstall it, then reboot. It will reinstall automatically.

First you can move your mouse over the icon on your desktop, or if it is in the start menu, and then double left click and see if the player shows up with the others such as local disk C. If you see your player in the items shown, then you can go to the start menu and then click on help and support. Next, you click on undo changes with system restore. It should say something relevant to that, some say one thing and others something differnt. Next, Pick an earlier date, and you should be good to go.

It might be your DVD burner (hardware problem).
Try opening and closing the tray.
