I would say 6 dollars an hour. You son't want to be greesy becuase they can easily just get another babysitter.

I am a former in home day care provider and I will tell you that I charged $5 per hour for the first child and another $3 per additional child per hour. It really is reasonable. You can also charge per meal that you feed the children. Snacks too, unless mom and dad are bringing you food for them. (for breakfast and lunch $1.50 each and for snacks around $0.75) You are spending money and should be reinbursed for it. It is all part of the trade off. If they were to take them to a corporate day care they would be charging them the same rates if not more. You could even call around to the local day cares and find out what their rates would be for those ages. Ask as if you were interested in bringing your children. They should be able to give you rates on it all for your area but I don't think it differs too much. You should be making around $165 a week or so just for the care. You can also negotiate a good price with the parents, have a meeting to discuss it all but definatly go in with a price that you want to charge and a price that you will not go under. Good luck!!

Depends on where in IL. If you are a suburb of Chicago, then somewhere around 8 dollars an hour since you're not driving and they're at your house. I live in Libertyville and I charge more than that, but I'm certified and I drive the kids all over the place. If you are elsewhere, I'd guess five or six dollars an hour at the max. Ask her what she normally pays her sitters and go from there.

I live in Central Illinois, corn & children everywhere! My rate for babysitting is a 10 dollars an hour for the first child and then $1 extra per hour per additonal child. It seems to be a pretty decent rate for our taxes and the child's parents will be able to do that easily. Good luck!

Well ten years ago, when I babysat, i got paid $5/hr. But things might be different where you live. Right now, here, minimum wage is $8.10/hr, and i think kids who babysit get about $6 or 7 an hour. So depending on what min. wage is, and what your qualifications are, and whether or not you're feeding them with your food.

depends on where you live, here the daycare centers charge around $140 a week for one child. if it's someone you know well give them a discount i would say 100 a week or so. it's really up to you and how much is reasonable.

I would say about $10 an hour. Kids are a pain, and a huge responsibility.

I think you should charge at least minimum wage, maybe even a dollar over. Caring for children has to be one of the most difficult jobs out there, however, people don't seem to want to compensate the sitters for their work. It's not that they don't want to as much as they can't afford to. However, you shouldn't be expected to give of your time for free.
