Problems of translating financial documents (financial statements)?

Question

I’ve decided to write my bachelor paper work about translating English financial documents (based on financial statements).
I will be happy for all information depending to this theme.
I will be really thankful for any idea of content for such work.

In first part of paper I think to write about language of financial English/documents in general
History of development, problems of translation...
In second part I think to review semantic, grammatical and such characteristic.
In last part: review of financial statements, kinds, peculiarities and problems of interpretation of terminology...
Those are just few of my ideas...
I’ve browsed many internet pages and found only few things...
Maybe u had worked with same things?
I would be thankful for any link or resource.

Financial translation is just one of the specialized fields. It has not been paid as much attention as technical translations, for example. Lot of problems with financial translations would be the same as with any other field of translation. I think one of the distinct differences for financial field is was finding correct words for providing adequate translation of the documents between two completely different financial systems.

You should be able to find articles on this subject in ATA Chronicle and Translation Journal. ATA had a seminar on Financial translation 2005. I hope that information might be helpful. Unfortunately, you would have to purchase materials of that seminar.

It would be a much better idea to ask this question to translators since they would be able to provide much better insight than yahoo answers. ProZ would be a good place for that. They have forums and a lot of interesting articles there.
