I know you pro-life people will have a field day with this one. In my opinion; abortion is NOT murder by defintion. a fetus is not a child until it is out of the womb. who are you to say it's not a womans choice? I bet all you pro-life people out there think we should keep the death penalty which is STILL killing someone wether they are a fetus, a person or an animal. if you eat meat you are still eating something that died and had a heartbeat. what makes a fetus so special before it comes out of the womb? most of you are hypocrites. Besides, before the fetus is in the last trimester or even out of the womb it has no memories of life and can't feel pain.

Well..I just came from watching my daughter's ultrasound today, and that sure the hell is a baby in there. At 20 weeks, I could see his spine, his head, his arms and legs, little fingers, his face. He was kicking his legs and sucked his thumb. You don't call that life because of the umbilical cord? You ever seen an aborted baby? You're sick.

I am against the death penalty and euthanasia also, so guess you're wrong there too.

There are many studies that have shown a fetus can feel pain very early in life.

I do not support the death penalty, so I guess I have avoided the hypocrite label. I do however eat meat so if you equate animal life with human life... I guess I am a hypocrit.

I do disagree with you about a fetus not being a child. As a former child and fetus I am glad you were not my mother and I was valued as a human being before and after my birth. Perhaps you should thank your mother for the same compassion.

In conclusion. I feel what you are really asking is: What is a fetus? A fetus is an unborn child that is helpless and needs our protection from conception to the day before it is born. And guess what? It is just as helpless the day after it is born. It would be barbaric if we let a day old child sit alone and die or just kill it right there in the hospital because it was unwanted. There is no difference than in the womb.

Thanks for the opportunity to address you on this issue.

Pro-Life, Pro Death Penalty, Atheist.

It's not a woman's choice because the fetus is not her body. Can she kill her child after birth? Of course not. The act of passing through a vagina does not give you rights. You had them beforehand.

Let's imagine a scenario: What if you were so fat that someone else could climb into your belly. Would that mean you could kill them once they were inside? Or is it about the umbilical cord? What if the cord is cut within the mother and a breathing tube is inserted. Could you kill the baby then? What about Siamese twins? Can one kill the other? This is gross, but what if a pregnant woman had an operation where her entire belly was opened up. At what point does the fetus become a child? What if the cord was cut?

As for the death penalty, it's not about the mere fact of the killing. It's the reason behind the killing. It's not about revenge either. Revenge is pointless. It's about removing any chance of that person hurting someone again. That's all.

Wow, you are ignorant. Sorry. That was really rude. There are all sorts of studies showing "fetuses" can feel pain. That's why I called you ignorant. Read a pregnancy book, and it'll explain all the stages development.

I don't believe in the death penalty, since there is ALWAYS the chance someone could be innocent.

I think babies can remember some things before they are born. They are able to recognize their mother's voice within minutes of birth, and if the father is close, his within hours. My baby was "buzzed" by a beeper to make her move during my pregnancy, and as soon as it went off, she avoided that spot for the rest of the day. What about the woman last year who shot herself in the stomach when she went into labor? She could not be charged with murder, even though the child was HOURS from birth, because of abortion laws. Yet there's a girl who was on Oprah who's serving a sentance now for killing her baby moments after it was born. She was only 15 or 16 when she got pregnant. She could've had an abortion, but she waited until after the baby was born. What then?

The "fetus" has a totally different DNA than the mother so according to forensics, that makes it a separate human being. The fetus also has different figerprints from the mother so that again proves it is a different human being. As for not being able to think or feel pain; it has been proven that during an abortion, the fetus will voluntarily move away from the threatening instrument attempting to destroy it. A criminal is GUILTY of a crime and worthy of the punishment for that crime. A baby is innocent and does not deserve to be mudered just to rectify the irresponsibility of the mother. Liberal idiots will tie themselves to a tree to keep it from being cut down, but won't lift a finger to save the unborn. They won't allow drilling in ANWAR because it might upset the lovemaking of caribou, but they scream that killing human babies is ok. Pardon me while I hurl.
BTW, I'm pro-life.

I can tell you're prochoice. The choice needs to take place before the act that creates the baby, ie, use birth control. It doesn't matter what stage it is in development, it's still a human being--I can't fathom how so many people have lost sight of this fact--it doesn't matter whether the fetus can fell pain or if it has memories. It's still alive & life is precious.

Well, when you think about it, since god is the biggest abortion provider of them all (through miscarriages and whatnot), it is the only logical choice to be Pro-Choice. (how ironic, logic and god? Funny!) If god existed, of course.

But, really, aborting a fetus is within the rights of a woman as it is PART of her body (attached, living off of, created from a cell originating from.. whatever) and, if you took it out of her body, would not survive. So, anyone calling it a child before a time that it cannot survive as one is incorrect. It is merely a fetus.

I do, however, oppose abortion at a point where, if the child is able to survive on its own outside the womb, could survive on its own. That would probably be considered a homocide of somesort.

So, in the birth canal, is it a person? How about half way out? 90% of the way out, so the head is out, and crying, while the legs and feet are still in the birth canal? Does that count?

Do you want to break it up into more questions? They are all important to discuss.

So, memories of life and feeling pain are your requirements for life?

Also curious how this fetus changes after birth, from the equivalent of a taco dinner to a child?

Lastly, as a society it is our obligation to determine what is acceptable behaviour of men and women - I have every right to challenge the moral position you hold, and I do.

I'm pro-life (innocent life) and pro-death penalty (guilty life). It's obvious that you're speaking with your emotions and not your brain or logic. It is a scientific fact that a fetus in early stages (1st and 2nd trimester) can feel pain. Look it up.

Well abortion and the death penalty are totally different things. Abortion is killing an innocent baby. It is killing to me, you stop a beating heart that is killing and the baby's heart is beating. The death penalty is killing someone who has already taken innocent lives. To get the death penalty that person must do something horrible to receive it, and they probably deserve it. That innocent baby did NOTHING wrong.
