I am in the same boat sort of as you, however I am looking for my future wife (5/27/07 - both of our times are coming quick!!).
Well I will try and help because men can be very difficult.
1st it is all about what he likes and NOT what you want him to like. If he is a cigar smoker, some good cigars and engraved lighter (the blue flames are the good ones) and clipper will be great. Even if you hate him smoking cigars, this is something HE LIKES.
Golfers (here is what I am hinting for), would really like personalized balls. A box of NXTs engraved with something funny or sweet or even perverted depending on your relationship. These are inexpensive so if he is a golfer, get a bunch of gift certificate for free rounds.
Other sports fans, tickets or memorablia are always loved. Memorabilia is actually tangible but you can always do a combo here.
Guys, atleast the ones I know, do not work gifts. We do not want clothes. We like watches but only if is better then our most expensive or on par with our casual watch(es). I have a Movado. If my fiance bought me a Guess, I would love it because she gave it to me but it will not be a WOW gift. If she bought me a Cartier, it would be a WOW gift (also a 5,000 wow gift).
Guys like things that we will not just go out and buy for ourselves. So you know you man, what are the things he likes? If you add information, I will give better ideas. Other then that, what can he NOT bring himself to buy because he just refuses to spend the money on it? That is the gift!

I just got my b/f a life size vinyl poster of his favorite basketball player of Lebron James from http://fathead.excellentabc.com . They have all kinds of life like posters of pro sports guys from all the sports and they have college to. He put it on the wall in his bed room and it really is life size. Might be a creative idea to get for him.
Congrats on the engagement

Hum.. try tickets for a baseball game of his fav. team. get the tickets for the both of you. This is a good way to relax before the wedding, or get them for after the wedding, this way you have something to look forward to after the wedding. hope this helps.

Can you give us some more information regarding what he likes or is into? What about tickets to his favorite team sporting event? Somesort of techie gadget, men usually like techie stuff. Purchase the NFL ticket for him for football season..... new stereo? there are so many things, but it depends on what he likes.

When I got married I got my husband a box of expensive cigars. Of course, he likes to smoke them so this idea wouldn't be good for a non-cigar smoker.
