It takes a lot of chocolate in order for it to have toxic effects - approximately 3 times it's body weight. If it's a large dog (I'm just going to take a wild guess on Lab - Sounds like something mine would do...), he'll be just fine - If it's a small dog, you've got more to worry about, but the actual percentage of chocolate compared to other additives is low. Your dog will probably get a nasty case of diarrhea, but will be OK.

I wouldn't be too worried, unless it is a small dog and a large can of frosting. Chocolate being poisonous to dogs is very overblown. It is the cocoa that is dangerous, and cocoa is only highly concentrated in baking chocolates and darker chocolates. A can of chocolate frosting I would think contains very little cocoa as it is much more sweet than strong. But again, it depends a lot on the size of your dog, and I'm guessing it's a larger dog since it downed a whole can.
My black lab once ate one of those giant hershey kisses that they sell for Christmas. I was very concerned before researching it. She ended up being fine, this was years ago. She's also eaten an entire large tub of crisco, multiple loaves of bread, and she even shredded up a fridge pack of coke cans when she was a puppy (not sure how much she drank, lol). She's much better now, but I do know that labs have a very heavy duty digestive system.

I would call a vet and see what they tell you to do. I had a small dog die from eating a dark chocolate sucker that it found.

no... i would't worry just try not to let it happen again. If you are that worried you can make him vomit, you take a little peroxide and milk OR table salt and a tiny bit of water to form a paste and stick it down his throat. just be prepared for ALOT of vomit. but again he should be okay.
