Do they teach straight from the Bible?
Do they pray for the Lord's wisdom in hearing His word?
Does the pastor speak straight from the word of God, or from his own thoughts?
I prefer bible teaching, book by book, verse by verse rather than topical teachings....
And are they teaching what the Bible says? Not twisting scripture?
Is the church growing? Does the Holy Spirit reside there? I go to a small church, and I keep waiting to see it get bigger, but I do love going to smaller churches- but when a church grows and its a spiritual growth, that is a good sign---not meaning a church that spends tons of money on electronics and "things" for the church---but that people come there to hear the word of God, and worship in spirit and truth.

Contrary to what is taught by most ministers and churches, the church was made for man and not man for the church. The church is a tool to help you with you life. It also may allow you to contribute money to good causes that will be well used so that you don't have to "vet" charities. So, find a church that helps you be a better person and satisfies whatever needs you have for spiritual growth of you and yours.

Do they preach from the Bible and consider the Bible the ultimate authority? Do they teach the whole council of God or simply pick out verses that they like and feel comfortable with? Is the "show" the most important part or the preaching of the word? Do they rely on emotionalism instead thinking and reasoning from the Scriptures? Is there a hierarchy or clergy that runs things and everyone else is subservient to them or is everyone considered equal before God?
Some questions to ask yourself when deciding where to fellowship.

All who visit any Christian congregation should be made to feel welcome.
Were you welcomed at the door? or very soon after... were you introduced around. Were you shown the way to the rest room? Were you invited to participate in some way.... did you leave feeling comfortable?...... MOST IMPORTANT...did you find the teaching in accourd with The Word Of God... \

If folks actually open up God's Word and care about what God has to say about the life He's given them. And they live in gratitude for His gift as well as visit with one another with sincerity and real-ness.
