Okay... I have to do a research paper on Kenai Fjords National Park. Does anyone know why it is being preserved or if there is any pollution? Are there any endangered species? If you know an answer to any of these questions please tell.

Listed below are a couple of web sites that you can research for the answers you seek. Kenai Fjords is a beautiful park. It is different from other national parks, with the exception of Glacier Bay and Biscayne National Parks, in that not only does it protect a land area but also the coastline and bordering ocean area. Kenai Fjords is truly pristine because it is for the most part inaccessible. There are no roads or foot trails that penetrate very deep into the park.

Viewing Kenai Fjords requires you to tour it by boat or air. Boat tours are conducted out of Seward but most air tours of the park fly out of Homer. There is an abundance of wildlife along the coastal areas including whales, sea otters, a variety of birds, sea lions, porpoises, etc. Following is a quote from the NPS.GOV web site.

"The Park was established in 1980 by the Alaska National Interest Lands Conservation Act to preserve in perpetuity unique fjord and rainforest ecosystems, the vast Harding Icefield, rich and varied marine and terrestrial wildlife, and historical and archaeological reminders of the Aboriginal peoples of the Alaska coast. In addition Kenai Fjords is mandated to provide for visitor enjoyment and access to the coastal fjords, Exit Glacier, and the Harding Icefield in a manner that maintains them unimpaired."

Hi. The view for one. From the web: "The park features the great Harding Icefield and its radiating glaciers, many of which descend to tidewater, and a magnificent series of fjords along the coast of Kenai Peninsula, with rain forest, sea lions, sea otters, seals, and varied bird life."
