A playful,loving,protecting, non-prissy pomeranian or a english mastiff. (I put details on the pomeranian cuz most people think pomeranians are not playful and crap like that.and most know about english mastiff's)

I think whatever one works better for your life is best. If you live in a small apartment, a mastiff isn't going to cut it and a pom might be perfect. If you live on a big ranch and need a dog to protect your property, or if you have lots of kids that play rough and might hurt a pom, then a mastiff might be the choice for you.
Different dogs for different people.

i would have to say a mastiff! i have a great dane and love her and i also have a rat terrier! so i have a big one and a small but mastiff would be my choice over a pomeranian!!

I like big, cuddely dogs, little yippy ones give me a headache, so I'll go with the mastiff. I love mastiffs anyway, they're very friendly dogs.

I would have to say a Pomeranian. I love small breeds and own 5 Chihuahuas.

i LOVE poms. i grew up on them and they are the best dogs. but my dogs is not very protecting. she will lick any person she comes in contact with. if your looking for a guard dog i would go with the mastiff.

mastiff i dont like small dogs that much. i like big dogs better than small dogs. my sister got bit by a mastiff so i dont like them that much, i got bit to. if you get near the dog while it has its bone it bites like two feet away it lunges

i like basset hounds big dogs drull not on me like golden retrievers i hate little rat dogs there just plane ugly
