I've done it in 56 hrs. That particular trip was chemically aided , I was with an old friend of mine and we were driving a rented Sedan de Ville- great car for a long trip
Realistically you can figure high 70's to low 80's in terms of hours
Directions are simple
I-80 W from the GW bridge
Take I-76 W from Julesberg Nebraska
Take I-70 West from Denver
Take I-15 South to San Bernardino
Take I-10 West until it ends at the Santa Monica Pier
Secrets ;
get over the GW by 4:00Am
plan on spending the first night by the Mississippi River or at the very least have Joliet Il behind you
Second night head for Grand Junction CO
or if youv'e never seen the Rockies be west of Denver before going to bed,
The secret to long distance driving is not driving fast it's not stopping for longer than necessary.
If you want to read something funny , go to mapquest, enterJFK-LAX and see what their coast to coast time is.

3-5 if you don't stop other than to sleep, eat, and use the bathroom. Otherwise, it could take weeks.
