Mastiff. Don't get me wrong I like Pomerania's to, I just would rather have a big dog for protection.

English Mastiff.
I am partial as I am a mastiff owner myself but I found the Mastiff to be a more loving and involved family member as where small dogs such as pomeranians tend to be more independent.

Definately the english mastiff. They are much more carring and friendly. Except the drool thing gets to me at times. I find pomeranians to be tempramental and not very playful
