It may depend on the size of your dog. I recently had my cat cremated - that cost US$95. I didn't pay attention to the prices, but I saw that the prices for dogs were divided into three size categories. I suggest that you call a few places and do some comparison shopping. They are used to hearing people cry, so don't let that stop you from picking up the phone.

I dont know about england, but here in Kentucky it cost about 75 US dollars, not sure what the conversion to pounds is, but I would imagine it would be near the same price.

Try the humane society (or equilavent).
In my area it was less than half the vets price to use them. Even cheaper if you just want their ashes dumped with a bunch of other (which seems really sick for some reason).

I think it all depends on the vet. I would just call the vet you used to take him to, and ask them what they charge.
