To society, it may be a bit... abnormal, but I am a person who believes in equality and you obviously do too (i'm guessing you are female). I don't like there's anything wrong with it. If he has traditional veiws on femininity/masculinity, then he may be a bit freaked out. If he's more openminded, then go for it. And how? I don't suggest getting down on one knee, unless he's really into sentimental stuff. Bring it up in a conversation. Suggesting might be a bit better than asking.

Don't do it. Wait for him to propose. If he doesn't and you are going out for years, then bring up the subject and ask about engagement, and wedding plans. If he balks and changes the subject,I would seriously think about moving on. But, do not propose as you will put this guy on the spot and it is totally embarrassing. You are a woman. Women should be proposed to..if he won't propose, then its time end the relationship.

On a recent episode of "Bridezilla" it stated that 1% of proposals are the woman asking the man. There is no "appropriate method"...just speak from the heart. I suggest opening up and telling him why you want him to be your husband.
If he accepts than you can talk about rings, etc...whatever you're both comfortable with. Best of luck!!!

i dont think its strange these days in the modern world. But if you find it strange, just give him some hints like taking him to a ring store or talking about marriage more often. Sooner or later he'll get the drift and propose to you!

It would definately untraditional, but I don't think wierd. As for how you should do it that is always something you'll need to figure out on your own. The only suggestion I could make is to plan out a fun night with your man and end it with the question. Best wishes! Hope it works for you.

These days? No.
And I don't think you should present him with an engagement ring.
Take him out to a nice place where you can be alone like a scenic place or a nice restaurant and then when the moment is right, ask him.

A man needs to be a man, and your proposal takes that away from him, let him be a man, if he wants to marry you he will ask you.

It is a bit unconventional. My concern would be if you "stole his thunder"
maybe get a mutual fried to do some investigating (find out if he is planning on proposing) so that you don't undermine his plans
