This is how you are to build it: The ark is to be 450 feet long, 75 feet wide and 45 feet high. 16 Make a roof for it and finish the ark to within 18 inches of the top. Put a door in the side of the ark and make lower, middle and upper decks.

Yes, the idea is ridiculous.

Genesis 6:15 in the Bible tells us the Ark's dimensions were at least 135 meters long (300 cubits), 22.5 meters wide (50 cubits), and 13.5 meters high (30 cubits). That's 450 feet long, 75 feet wide, and 45 feet high! It could have been larger because several larger-sized cubits were used. But the 45-centimeter (18-inch) cubit is long enough to show the enormous size of the Ark.
(A cubit was the length of a man's arm from fingertips to elbow.)
Higher than a 3-story building!
Noah's Ark was three stories high (Genesis 6:16). Its total deck area was equivalent to the area of about 20 standard college basketball courts or 36 lawn tennis courts. The world had to wait until AD 1884 before the Ark's size was exceeded, when the Italian liner Eturia was built.
The rectangular dimensions of the Ark show an advanced design in ship-building. Its length of six times its width and 10 times its height would have made it amazingly stable on the ocean. Remember it was made more for floating than sailing, because it wasn't headed anywhere. The Ark was made to withstand a turbulent ocean voyage, not to be at a certain place at a certain time.
Recent thought on the Ark's design is that it could have had a slightly tapered top at the front and back, instead of being squared off. But the famous rock formation near Mount Ararat with pointed ends, which some think is Noah's Ark is almost certainly not!

This was no problem, according to Dr. Max D. Younce, who says by his calculations from Genesis 6:15 that the ark was 450 feet long, 75 feet wide and 45 feet deep. He says this is equivalent to "522 standard stock cars or 8 freight trains of 65 cars each." By some divine calculation he figures that all the insect species and the worms could fit in 21 box cars. He could be right, though Dr. Younce does not address the issue of how the big boxcar filled with its cargo rose with the rainwater level instead of staying put beneath the floodwaters.

He only needed 2 of each thing that couldn't interbred. Like two dogs or two cats. The giant cats like lions and tigers came from adaptation the stronger bigger ones survived the small house cats stayed small. We do that now and make small horses and small cows. It was 3 story's and the size of a football field. Remember when the Israelites wandered in the wilderness and God miraculous provided food and their clothes never worn out. Don't you think he had a hand in all that. I am sure a world of people would have build boats during this time to survive but only Noah did. Why?
Because God was holding him in the palm of his hand.
Only to Noah he was riding the waves. He had the angels to protect him.

This was just asked about 2 hrs ago. Per Genesis...Noah was to get 7 pairs of every clean animal...2 pairs of every unclean animal and 3 pairs of every type bird. I remember this from my many years of studying the bible. There was also a documentary on the Discovery Channel about this.
Not that it really ever happened.....

It wasn't all that big. He just needed a few species. Evolution took care of creating new species after the flood.
A better question is..... how did the fish survive the flood?
Salt water fish can't live in fresh water. The earth was flooded with fresh water. Doh!

Based on measurements given in the Genesis account, most experts agree that the ark had approximately 1,500,000 cubic feet of free space.

A professional wooden boat builder on The History Channel calculated the size to be nearly the size of the Titanic...using the cubit measurment given in the bible. He stated that it was absolutely impossible to build a boat that size entirely from wood.
