The little dog needs time to adjust to it's new environment. Try to let the new dog get used to things and then slowly introduce the two dogs to each other. If your new dog is still a little scared, the big dog is probably making him feel overwhelmed!

Make sure to still pay plenty of attention to the lab so that he doesn't get jealous. It will take one or two weeks for the little dog to feel comfortable. Don't try to force the two dogs to play together...eventually they will work things out. You're lucky that the lab isn't the one with the attitude. Most dogs are very territorial and don't welcome new members into the pack easily. I'm sure that everything is going to be fine...all you need is a little more time!

Well, where'd you get the dog? You didn't have them meet and play and see how they did together before you agreed to keeping the second dog? If you got the second dog at a rescue, I'm sure they'd have suggestions on what to do.

What makes you think that the little dog doesn't like the lab? Does he bark? Run? What?

it's important to let your lab know that he still has his spot in the pack hierarchy... don't spend less time with him than usual (rather a bit more), feed him first, etc.

and give both dogs their own spots to have some quiet time where they won't be disturbed. make sure they both get enough walks and exercise, it will let them take some pressure off. if you can't walk or play with both at the same time, maybe it's better if the lab isn't aware you're leaving with the other dog, and walk the lab first. this isn't neglecting or treating the second dog badly, if everyone is in the right place in the pack ,everybody is happy, also the on'e who aren't dominant/at the top!!

if you let me know what exactly the problem is, i can be more of a help!

There will be an adjustment phase how long have the dogs been together? If not more then a few weeks, give it a month or so. Make sure you are very firm with your rules, and still give the older dog preference. and Teach the little one who is the alpha.

Your little dog is trying to pull rank over your lab. I have a large dog as well and I recently was given a toy poodle. My little dog didn't get along at first with my bigger dog. But when you train dogs you have to pull rank. You should always be the alfa female with your dogs.Let them know that you are the one that is in control when you are with them. And it helps that you walk them together when you take them on a walk. Dogs live in packs in the wild and they have rank just like the military. So just remember that and it should get easier for you with them. Also you shouldn't show favoritism to either dog.I know its hard cause it is still hard for me not to do as well.....Good Luck.....
