I wish I could answer this question, but I can't. I have no proof that there's a God I just believe with all my heart.

You don't answer a question with a bigger question and then hide the bigger question and pretend it isn't there.

The only reasonable answer is simply the universe is not created. Saying god always existed doesn't solve the problem. If you are walking along and come to a library and ask how did such a beautiful and complex library come about. Does saying the library always existed answer the question. No of course not.

The probability of a closed system just existing with no exterior context is 2^ (-b) where b is the Kolmogorov complexity in bits. Since Theists define a god with infinite complexity the likelihood of that type of god just existing for entirely no external reason at all is zero.

This is why I suspect reality as a whole is extremely simple, and we are the result of a profound selection effect. You don't solve the problem of complexity with a greater complexity.

If something such as reality as a whole "just exists" without a cause then it must be extremely simple. The theists god claim is anything but simple.

And people who attempt to answer the question by saying God is beyond our comprehension just amaze me. If it is beyond your comprehension then why would you claim it exists.

VERY good question.

But it's not my place to ask that anymore. And believe me, I've tried...

A question like that is like asking 'How high is up', 'What happens when you die', and 'How did atoms get there'? Some things DEFY explanation and/or definition and better yet, we simply DON'T KNOW. And I've learned to accept the fact that we will most likely never know.

It's like when you play fetch with a dog, I bet you never explained to the dog why you threw the bone and why it HAS to retrieve it, right?

It just wouldn't understand... Just like us...

Just live one day at a time, love... The world got along fine long before we were born and it will get along fine long after we're gone...

Seek knowledge for knowledge is power; power is freedom; freedom is peace...

May peace be upon you...

EDIT: To salient2 above me, your response is in no way scientific or 'wise'. All you posted was a bunch of rhetoric which you hope to make other individuals impressed by your 'vast' knowledge. You are in NO WAY correct.

Your attack of the example of a building just being there and it just 'existing' is a Pre-K attempt to make yourself sound articulate and learned...

OF COURSE if a building is there, it MUST have a FOUNDER, you POSER! So where did that founder come from? Parents, and then them? And so on and so forth until Point 1-- Creation/Big Bang/Whatever you want to call it...

SCIENTIFICALLY, the correct answer is WE DON'T KNOW. We weren't there from the beginning, therefore, ALL explanations are --scientifically-- THEORIES...

Aristotle said the Prime Mover created the Universe. No one created God that is the point of him. He was first and He will be forever. Try and think outside the box. Ignore your own beliefs and try and analyse the different religions' views on creation. There are a hundred thousand stories associated with religions but you have to read them all.

People created the idea of God.

What a good question, but God was'nt created, he's a spirit. If God was created, then there would be someone else above him & that just dos'nt exist, so God is exceptional. It also depends on what your beliefs are. Everyone has a dipiction of god & i'm sure you have yours.

It is strange that many people can accept God as being without beginning, but not accept the universe as the same. And to the person who asked why monkeys exist if evolution is true, we all evolved from the same ancestors, monkeys to fill their niche, and humans to fill ours. Monkeys are good at surviving, so they survive. That's what natural selection and survival of the fittest is all about.

The only answer to the question is that there is no god.

I also wanted to respond to one simpleton answerer who said 'If evolution is true, why are there still monkeys?' - which is simply ignorant, as far as responses go. Humans and apes share a common ancestor, not a direct ancestry. The question is also analogous to asking 'if wine comes from grapes, why are there still grapes?'

who mad life and death!! why do humans die? why do trees live with water and air? how do fish live underwater and who made day and night the sun and the stars...what they were always there???? nooo so god created all that..meaning there is a god..and he is only one he was never born , never married or had children...he is just one and since he is a god he has the ability to do whatever it is ....and its up to us to believe in that power and have enough faith in us to know that he is there and the creator of alll things...
