Go to the doctor and get diagnosed

First of all, Dissociative Identity Disorder (what you are calling a split personality) is VERY rare.

In most cases, it is a result of severe childhood abuse.

The signs that you might notice are:
Losing long periods of time or of your life
Blacking out and forgetting things
Buying clothes that you have no idea where they came from
Hurting yourself
Driving to places and forgetting where you are going

Only a pyschologist trained in understanding dissociation would really be able to tell if you had DID.

What you are referring to is DID (Dissociative Identity Disorder), and is not as rare as many people think. Just because you do not "lose time" does not mean you did not develop DID. DID develops when you are younger than 9, as a result of some kind of trauma. It is a COPING SKILL, and does not mean you are "nuts". No medicines will help, because it is not a chemical imbalance, it is a NORMAL reaction to some unnatural trauma that happened when you were too young to handle it.
Finding out if you are "Multiple" requires patience. I would reccomend the below book, a therapist trained in anxiety and/or dissasociation, and the website below. And ALOT of patience. A notebook, left out to write in. Do not jump to conclusions.

There is no "split personality". There's schizophrenia, a split from reality, and then there's multiple personality disorder now called disassociative identity disorder, which is extremely rare.

If you believe you may have a personality disorder of any kind, speak to your primary care physician and start there. If it's justified, you'll be referred to mental health services.

Self diagnosing is not very successful and could give you the hypocondriac (sp) effect where you convince yourself that you are even if you're not. I say go to a pyschologist (sp)who specializes in the disorder and they should be able to do a clinical test.

It generally takes diagnosis by a trained professional. Because it is such a rare disorder, even trained professionals are sometimes fooled.
