Since the civil war. USA needed allies to defeat all of our enemies right? British was one, then against Germany we had to have our allies including Russia to defeat Germany and with Japan, we had to use Nuclear bomb. With Korea we had to have all our allies again but when N. Korea got help from China we were pushed back. Then the Vietnam and I don't need to go there. Now what about Iraq. We're struggling again! So why are we number one? Is the U.S. delusional at this point?

This depends on how you measure military success. The military has not lost a battle in any war since Korea. As far as your reference to the bomb on Japan. Take a history class. The Japanese were training their children to fight to the death if mainland Japan was invaded. Based on intelligence and recent experiences with invasions at Normandy in Europe and the many islands in the Pacific both sides calculated that an all out invasion of mainland Japan would have resulted in millions of Japanese deaths and hundreds of thousands of Allied soldiers deaths. So strategically and morally dropping the bomb was the right thing to do.

Perhaps you should realize that all war is political. Therefore our military is as powerful as those in D.C. will allow it to be.

We by far are not the largest. Most powerful is an opinion. We do have the best trained and train a lot of our allied forces troups. We have downsized a bit in the last 20 years. But we for sure are the most advanced in technology military. We are number one not only because of our advanced military but in the relief after war we put more into rebuilding the country and helping refugees. Do the history on this. In every war we could of done a better and faster job if we did not try to keep the civilian population safe. If we did not do this we could make a lot quicker and do better at fighting these wars. Un like those that we had faught that have no regaurds for these people this is why we have the trouble we do. If it were not for this and the helping rebuild we could of been out of iraq in 6 months.

Research your history.
In WW1 and 2, we only joined after being asked by the allies. We were never in it from the start. We came to THIER aid, not vise versa. Also, we didn't "have to" use the nuclear bomb. Japan was already on the brink of surrender. It's use was more politically driven then militarily, although we did save a lot of U.S. soldiers lives by utilizing it.
Korea was a U.N. action. Although the US was foremost in troop strength it wasn't a US vs. NK war. China, Britain, and other UN and even Soviet troops were involved. Regardless, it's not a "loss" by America. In the end the lines stalemated and BOTH sides were sick of fighting.
Vietnam, although viewed as a loss by most also, wasn't technically a loss. While everyone thinks that a war is over when one side surrenders it isn't always the case. In fact it will surprise you to learn that despite everyone viewing 'nam as a loss, the U.S. Military actually accomplished ALL of their military objectives. Not all of the ones that they wanted to, but all of the ones they were allowed to. Some will argue that if the Military was allowed to fight the war the way they wanted to, then Vietnam would have come out differently. But in the end we were hampered by politics. This wasn't the military's fault. Either way, since all of the objectives were met, in a strategic sense, we actually succeeded in Vietnam(BTW, the Vietnam war along with Korea and, oh yes, even Iraq, are not "Wars". Just because the media calls it a "war" doesn't mean it's so.)
Iraq, well, there's many of schools of though on the issue. Basically though, as with Vietnam, we set certain goals and military objectives. So far, we are succeding in accomplishing them, though most of the public will regard it as a loss if we pull out. As long as we meet those goals and objectives you can't really say we "lost". From the start our main goal was to eventually return control to the new Iraqi govt. We have been ready to do so for some time, just that they keep asking us to extend our deadlines. Trust me, we've reached all of our goals and objectives so far, and want to turn the country over. I've been there, got the t-shirt, and the sand in my boots to prove it!

The reason we had allies was because they were other people like us fighting the common enemy. We could have defeated Germany and Japan by our selves but it would have taken a bit more time. Besides it doesn't hurt to have allies.

It isn't a matter of strength, it's a matter of commitment. We are still the most powerful military on the planet, we just lack the commitment to stick to our principles... In WW1, we were helping the European countries out of the mess they got themselves into. In WW2, we were, as it has been ever since, providing the majority of the money, people and equipment to fight the war. In Vietnam, we lacked the commitment to win, and the desire to enter into a direct conflict with the Chinese, and the Soviets. I think that you are the delusional one at this point.

America is still number one, we just use other nations to assist us for political reasons. Militarily we can not be stopped, but the military war is not the issue the issue is the ideological war. No matter how big our bombs our they can never destroy an idea.
