I think you need to ask the vet. She may be lacking in certain minerals, which may have caused "pica". A pica is simply a craving for something that normally isn't what one would eat. The one thing that i would be worried about is if there was a car parked where your cat licks. Antifreeze holds a powerful attraction to animals. Dogs, especially because of it's sweet taste. The lost look, well it sounds like you are a concerned pet owner, but the look is probably your perception of how you might feel if you couldn't have children. Transference of human emotions to animals is common. In this case, your spaying added years of comfort and life to her. Bless you for spaying her.

I had a siamese that had kidney disease that used to lick the rust on a wall outside when she did not feel well.

I had never had vet able to explain but I think you are right she more than likely is lacking something or just not feeling well. You may want to have them run some blood work.

Mine used to feel better once I would give her SubQ fluids.
Maybe that might be a good place to start ask them to give her some fluids unless you have experience in doing it yourself.
