Knee-jerk reactionism. Someone disputes the bible, the bible is always right, ergo it is neccessary to dispute that person.
See how there isn't actually any thought involved in that process?
To be fair, nobody actually expects a deliberate misquote to be put up for discussion. It's a bad idea to take any quote as correct because it doesn't allow for mistakes. Thanks for the reminder.

I'm not an atheist, so if that disqualifies me form answering, so be it. Nonetheless, there are enough adolescents on these boards to make many people defensive - kinda like...oh, General Pace being forced to apologize for expressing his personal opinion.
OTOH, it is pretty funny when someone tries to explain a non-existent "fact." My uncle and my father loved to do that all the time. They would start an argument just for the sake of playing with someone else's mind. They really didn't care which side they took - it was an exercise in debating techniques - and important part of using rhetoric and logic.
Sometimes they would do it to each other, even though deep down they knew what the other fellow was doing. I remember once when they argued about musicians and composers -- and each one kept quoting "facts" to back up his particular position. After two hours, my Dad gave in. He asked my uncle how he was able to remember so many esoteric authors. My uncle started laughing, and told Dad that he had made them all up. My father just shook his head - because he too had been making up his citations.
So it is on these boards - people are so used to being disagreed with that they don't look at what the argument is in the first place.

Freedom of speech would not recommend freedom from grievance. quite freedom of speech protects grievance. Do you think of you get a particular exception from grievance merely when you consider which you're Christian? "i don't get offended while Muslims quote from the Quran nor while an atheist/agnostic expenses from a technology e book." merely when you consider which you do no longer workout a perfect would not recommend you may deny that perfect to others. additionally, atheism isn't the comparable ******* ingredient as medical naturalism. ffs, you recognize that. while you're unwilling to have what you assert and what your holy e book says held as much as scrutiny, i think of that declares greater with regard to the weak point of the claims of the Bible than something i could desire to assert. edit: haha. I went decrease back and appeared at your final question, the place you quoted the Bible and asked atheists for his or her elementary concepts. guy, you haven't any longer any room to cry approximately our criticizing it. that's precisely what you asked for.

People aren't able to look at what they believe in with a critical mind. They just eat religious texts as if they were the undeniable truth.
These people feel attacked if you criticize a quote from the Bible. As if you were criticizing them.

I have never done that. But I have pointed out over 300 different places where the bible contradicts itself to those who claim that its the absolute word of God.

Because many of those who claim to be christian don't really have a clue what their religion is about, and have never read the bible. They only listen to the hate filled bile spewed by their fundie pastor, and think thats all they need to know.
Atheism. You know it makes sense.

What do I think? I think you should read to the blind, take up dog walking as a hobby or masturbate more. You are uptight and have too much time on your hands.

Cause they don't actually read the bible as much as they claim to.....so I guess that really does make them as ignorant as they try and claim we are.
