no one can help u but urself.why are u depressed is it because u have a roof over ur head or could it be that u have food and clothing, or maybe cuz you were born without any deformities, or u may have seen ur whole family murdered right before ur eyes. Pick one if not and u were not part of some genecide then you are not depressed ur are suffering of self pitty and need to grow up and get over it. YOu cant talk about ur emotions cuz u dont even know the problem ur self, cuz there is none. You cut ur self so that physical pain can take away the mental pain ur feeling. I know all about that i been there done that except i had reason , till finally i did try to commit suicide but someone walked in and stoped me in the middle and do u know what made me snap from this "depression" a commercial i saw at 2 in the morning of those starving kids and less fortunate people. ... think about it.

I would recommend speaking to a actual psychiatrist if that's not who prescribed the anti-depressants. I've also been diagnosed as depressed but found that regular old anti-depressants did nothing for my particular obsession. I'm not a cutter, I'm a picker/scratcher and there are aspects of those conditions that require a different type of medication. Your family MD is not really the best qualified to address the issues. I understand your frustration and pain. If you're uncomfortable talking to friends or family about these things there are numerous forums online where you can find like minded people. Please feel free to email me if you need to talk. julieadeal@yahoo.com

Write.
If you can't talk about your emotions then put them on paper. Re-read them a week later and you will discover many things about yourself, patterns and such, that you were totally unaware of.
Keep them in a journal or burn them a week later after you have read them, it doesn't matter. What matters is giving your brain a much needed break and releasing all the hell you are feeling onto something neutral, like paper. Write, scribble, draw, doodle or whatever.
Eat Better.
I think you should see a nutritionist. Many symptoms similar to those of depression are suffered by people who are lacking nutrition in their lifestyles by crash dieting, eating sporadically or eating foods that they are somewhat allergic to and don't know it.
I'm glad you know suicide is not a solution to the temporary mindfuck you are going through. I swear it's temporary!!
Stop cutting yourself.
Find a new ritual: guided meditation, Yoga, weight lifting, whatever. As far as the pills for depression go, they are not a quick fix and take up to 6 weeks to see fully noticeable results. Take them if you really truly believe you need them.

You should seek a group that is suffering from the same, cutting is something that is common today and there are groups that can help. On top of this I would also suggest that you stay on your meds, if they are not helping (after 4 to 6 weeks, it takes that long to get in your system) return to the doctor and ask for an alternate medication. Not all antidepressants work for everyone, you have to first adjust the dose then if that does not work, try another one. Wish you luck!!

Sometimes, depression can just happen for no apparent reason. Much of it has to do with the chemistry in your brain and hormones. As someone who suffers from the same condition, all I can tell you is that it does get better. Give your medicines enough time to work, and if you don't feel better in about six weeks, tell your doctor and he will try a new medicine. Don't blame yourself for your feelings. People are very ignorant when it comes to understanding what you are going through. I understand and I feel for you.

i've been through a similar experience you need to make sure you can appreciate and highlight the things in life you do enjoy. if you can't see anything, amke yourself some new oppurtunities like join a new club or something that you might have not thought of previously but will open doors and give you something to look forward to. you need to have something to look forward to every few weeks, which you can aim for and help you get through the rest. this has helped me a lot
also, even if you find you don't want to, amke yourself get out and solcialise as after a while this will halp to cheer you up.
in the long term maybe try to find the things in your life that are making you feel this way. maybe try to think about a new job, and meeting new friends/ boyfriend/girlfriend.
it is hard to have no one to talk to, and i know how this feels. maybe get out and meet some new friends to see if you can find someone who you feel comfortable with
good luck
if you want to talk at all feel free to email me

Hi, you are not alone. I suffer depression and so do many other people. Suicide is always lurking in the mind. It is so lonely. You are doing the right thing to speak out. I too can not "share" with other people. I am comfortable behind my computer. Maybe you can find as on-line support group. You are worth fighting for! God loves you honey. I hope things get better soon. Hold on and pray! : )

You should talk to your doctor about recommending a therapist that you can go see. You need to talk to someone and talking to your friends might not give you the results you want. Talking to a therapist will give you the privacy you need and the help that you need without having to worry about anyone spreading rumors or saying something stupid. Have you tried talking to your parents?
