hay have a look at my wevb site
http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/sellingyourphotography/
This site is set up to help photographers starting out in freelance or looking for work in Photography. A place to share experiences, pass on contacts, information & generally help each other where you can.
I started out doing A HNC in Photography at collage at the age of 40 after an illness. I found it hard to get help with marketing my images & found that successful photojournalists would not give me the time of day. The local rag want the images for nothing & I could not get the real help & practical information I needed to get a good start.
I am now employed as a Photographer for the Fire Service. hope this helps

There are a variety of stock photography websites that will allow you to sell your photographs online (and take a small commission). The plans offered by these sites vary, with some requiring you to pay a registration/membership fee, while others are completely free.
Your photographs/videos/designs/artwork will be displayed on the site, where users can purchase them, and pay based on the resolution of the image they chose to download, and/or the intended use of the image.
When your profit reaches a certain amount, you will receive a check in the mail (or a credit through PayPal).
A couple of sites, just to get you started, are ShutterStock, iStockPhoto, Corbis, and FotoSearch.

Hi there,
There are 3 types of jobs, when You do photography:
1. Assignments (You are being paid when someone hires You - weddings, still life and product, portraits, business etc)
2. Selling prints - the more fine art they are, the better (You can also sell gdgets with Your photos on them, calendars, postcards - all by Yourself)
3. Selling images or photographs as stock - by Yourself or using a third party company like stock agency
These are the esential categories and fields when You think about selling Your photos.
Kind regards

Doing weddings and special events is always a big money maker. Of course, you have to possess exceptional photography skill and knowledge. Someone I know has their own website and posts samples of her pictures on there. She has gotten numerous job offers (including offers from major magazines) so perhaps you should start there and advertise around your area. People are always getting married...

1) Submit them to Fotolia
http://www.fotolia.co.uk/partner/92568
2) Create a print on demand merchandise store @ EQUISTO (the UK equivalent of Cafepress.com)
http://www.equisto.co.uk/perl/referral.pl?p=102041
3) Sell them via PhotoStock+
http://www.photostockplus.com/red.php?adid=11120&creativeID=14
(though that costs money)
4) Set up your own photography business doing either Weddings / School Photos / Modelling portfolios, etc
There's also a few books on this subject knocking around:

you have to take photos that are very original.ones that are a bit different to the norm.of course they have to be very good quality if you want to sell them.go to galleries, see what kind of thing is being sold.take your photos to shops, see if they are interested.put adverts in papers.good luck.
