Recurrent mouth ulcers may be due to too little iron or a lack of vitamins in the diet, especially B12 and C, hormonal changes - many women get ulcers at the time of their periods, stress,· infections, particularly herpes simplex in children and some adults, Behcet's disease, an auto-immune disease caused by the body attacking the cells lining the mouth, sensitivity to foods containing some preservatives and flavouring agents, such as cinnnamaldehyde, bowel disease such as Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis, coeliac disease (gluten sensitivity), and skin diseases such as Lichen Planus, Herpes Simplex or Pemphigus. Some medicines can also cause mouth ulcers. Recurrent mouth ulcers cannot be caught by kissing, or by sharing drinks and utensils.

The exact treatment will depend on the cause of the ulcer. Sometimes all that is required is to remove the cause of the ulcer, such as a sharp tooth. The following self-care measures may help to reduce pain from mouth ulcers:
keep your mouth clean at all times, avoid foods that are spicy, acidic, salty or particularly hot or cold, which can make the symptoms worse, eat a healthy diet that includes fresh fruit and vegetables, gargle with warm salt water, use a diluted chlorhexidine mouthwash once a day to help reduce the length of time the ulcers last. sprays and rinses are also available for pain relief.

Mouth ulcers generally occur due to one of these deficiencies of vitamin B12, iron, zinc, folic acid. Too much presence of vitamin C causes oral ulcers. One home remedy is to wet a tea bag and use it as a compress on the area. Cooled chamomile tea offers quick relief - in between painful swallowing of food - with its anti-inflammation properties. Gargle with it, or swish it around your mouth and drink it. Try adding natural honey (the propolis in some honey could help in healing) if you prefer the taste, or need the calories.
Some people benefit from using the over-the-counter topical gel Bonjela, which contains choline salicylate. Choline salicylate is a local analgesic that helps to reduce the pain and inflammation associated with oral ulcers. Some people have reported great benefit from eating milk products such as yogurt and buttermilk. Hope your ulcer will vanish soon.

precaution : as much as possible clean your mouth and use some times gel or gargle with any liquid mouth wash as u suit ... and take the capsul BECOZINC (orange and black) onece a day after breakfast for long time.

It more of a sign of deficiencies than anything else. To help get rid of them take some vitamins supplements and wash your mouth out with warm salt water, it does wonders!
