A lot of Catholic principles are considered paganistic by other Christians. Saints are canonized and recognized as the church. Your church has final word on the intrepretation of the Bible into what is sin and what is not.
I would, as a Muslim, suggest praying to God and God alone.
Pray for those who have died, but not to them. Only God has power over you.

No, no person however the main extreme God has the potential to take heed to our prayers. So, despite if a lifeless relative or all people else has been resurrected as a non secular being or saint, , in accordance to the Bible, no person yet God is declared to be the "hearer of prayer". (playstation . sixty 5:a million,2;a million John 5:14) on the different hand, you may ask a buddy, a kinfolk member or all people that maintains to be alive right here on earth to wish for you. in spite of the indisputable fact that, as quickly as a guy or woman dies, no you may talk with him or her via prayer, despite if the guy has been resurrected as a non secular being. The Bible would not talk approximately all people who prayed to any religious being (saint or angel), different than God, and replaced into heard. yet, there are limitless memories interior the Bible of prayers directed entirely to "the hearer of prayer", the Almighty God, Jehovah.

I'm not Catholic, so I'd say it is. anything you esteem as good as or greater than God in any way becomes an idol. so if you give something that belongs to God to someone else, then you're technically an idolarter.
besides, I don't believe dead men talk, and I believe i can talk to God directly if I want. no need to pray through saints

Why would you pray to dead ancestors? It states in the bible that when one dies he is "dead" until the coming of the lord. They can not here what you are saying. Even if they could, they do not have the power to answer prayer. Only God my brother.

Why would you pray to dead relatives when you can go directly to the source?

Your a sinner for many reasons, including the above. There is ONE mediator between God and man, and that is Jesus. I know, I know, Paul asked for others to pray for him. Yes, he asked ALIVE people, to pray to God on BEHALF of him. Not DEAD people to pray to God on behalf of him.. The dead know not... They cant hear you, the bible is very very clear about that. Please, read the bible, adn study this out, your prayers are not being answered because of saint or dead reletives!

calm down. why are you letting a bunch of mostly phony numnut-brainstemmed comments get to you like this? You can pray to whomever the blank you want to. I don't care if you're catholic or what - we all need prayer in our life to get us through hard times.

I don't recall reading anywhere that you shouldn't pray to anyone only that you shouldn't worship. I would have to say go with your feelings, does it feel wrong?

there are a lot of cultures throughout history that revere their ancestors and ask them for help.
i don't see anything wrong with that.

I think that prayer and worship are completely different matters. You are not worshiping your dead relatives, you are only talking to them.
