Get one of those wire covers from the office supply store or run your wires through a small pipe. Do not get him a chew toy that looks like wire, he won't distinguish between it and the wires.
You should get some of the spray can product call Scat - it's suppose to dissuade cats from places. Spray all wires liberally.
Good luck.

Hi JJ
I had a cat that loved wires, too. The vet said it was because of the smell and texture of the wires. It's a real "crap-shoot" so to speak, finding something other than a wire protective sheath. Bitter apple sometimes works, but has to be re-applied. My cat loved the freaking aluminium foil. Burying the wire under the carpet can be dangerous to you, as a fire hazard and the cat will simply dig at the carpet to get to it. As far as toys go, I wonder if your cat has you trained? Do you go right over and get it away from the wire? give it toys and play with it? If you do, then the cat has you trained. When it wants attention, just like a child, it will do something to get it. If nothing else works, removing the cat from the wire, while saying "NO" and putting it immediately into a non-cardboard, ventilated cat carrier may also work, as a negative reinforcement.

My cat did the same thing . You can buy a spray at most pet stores that tastes nasty that you can spray on the cords . You may need to reapply it a few times but after awhile he will not chew on them any more . Or you could get some plastic piping and go around the house and cover all of the cords .You have to do something or he may get electrocuted , ruin your cords or even start a fire .

I agree with all of the covering ideas, but you might also want to take some of his toys away. Cats get bored when they have too many as well. Let him have 4 or 5 toys throughout the house that you take away and change every so often. Also, get yourself a cheap small squirt gun and when he starts to go after the cords squirt him with it, then afterwards (when he gets a grip from being squirt) give him one of the toys to play with and play with him for a minute.

I'd go with the hot sauce or just rub a fresh jalapeno pepper across the wires. When my kitties start towards stuff that can get them into trouble, I try distracting them with a treat or toy. Of course you can't watch him all the time so try the pepper.

Cover the wires with protective covers or put them away so the cat can't get to them.

Put double sided tape around them. Cats don't like the way it feels. You might wrap them in bubble wrap. The next time JJ goes to bite them BAM... he will get scared and stay away!

I used to have cats that did that, just rub dish soap along the cords/wires. its cheaper then going to the pet store and paying a bunch of money, and its not really harmful to them.
