I've been having weight problems in that I gain weight solely in my abdominal area. Literally, my arms and legs are crazy thin. I used to be on birth control which regulated me and now I'm off of it since the summer and haven't menstruated in over 5 months. Would this hormonal imbalance cause me to retain weight/ make it hard to lose weight??

Yes, but without sounding retarded--get a pregnancy test done. It is surprising--if you haven't already.
But yes, I tend to gain weight around my middle area too. There is a link between your hormone levels and where your fat is stored.
You may want to check out PCOS too. That is a very good indication of weight gain in the abdomen area.

It very well may be hormonal, but the gain in the abcominal area just happens because we don't do the exercises to keep the muscles tight. Try exercising more. Since you aren't having you period for several months, I suggest you see a Gynologist. This is not normal. There usually is help.
